Hi everyone,
As we all know, we are facing probably one of the biggest epidemics that we will ever know in our lifetime. Like myself, I’m sure many of you are out of work, out of school, and probably going crazy in the confines of your bedrooms.
With social distancing being practically demanded by news and officials, it’s hard to know what is still “okay” to go out and do without risking both your own health, and the health of other.
But good news! Keeping it as on brand as I can, I am glad to say that skateboarding has not been cancelled!
I know what you’re thinking….Going outside? ARE YOU CRAZY?! Well maybe. But if you’re a skater, you know that right now with all the free time we have, not being outside especially while it’s warming up is extremely hard.
So I’ve arranged a couple of tips mentioned in the article “IS IT SAFE TO SKATE IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS?” from Jankem Mag for all those wanting to skate safely during this pandemic.
- WASH YOUR HANDS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. With soap and water. For at least 20-30 seconds. Don’t touch what you don’t need to!
- STAY AWAY FROM OTHERS! This means skating alone, or with a select few close friends who keep their circles tight.
- STAY SIX FEET AWAY FROM THE HOMIES. This means no dapping. Greet your pals from a distance with a nod or wave. They’ll understand, I promise.
- TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO GET HURT. This probably isn’t the best time to try that new trick down a twelve-stair. Hospitals and physicians are too busy prioritizing Corona patients, and most likely won’t put your broken wrist, ankle, or concussion first.
At the end of the day we all know that the safest kind of skating, is skating in the comfort of your own quarantined home, but let’s be real…..who has the space or floors for that?
At the end of the day, it’s up to my readers and fellow skaters to do what is in their best judgment and works for them.
I am staying hopeful that this all ends soon but am continuously wondering when we will finally be able to leave our houses again and have real genuine seshes with friends at the park.
In the meantime, let me know what you have been doing to pass the time in the comments below!
