As the school semester comes to an end, we are all moving onto different routines, and slowly but surely welcoming summer (even if our current situation doesn’t make summer feel real.) With that being said, there will be changes to my routine, and unfortunately my blog activity will be taking a hit.
I know what you’re thinking…..IT WAS SO SHORT LIVED!!!
But it’s hard to imagine never posting again, since this blog has become so much more than a school project for me. It has become a personal outlet for my own hobbies and opinions that I get to share with all of my readers. (S/O to Professor Nimkoff for the opportunity and encouragement to write about something we find passion in.) So although I may be taking a break for the time being, who is to know what will happen in just a couple of months or next school semester….
After all, there will ALWAYS be something to talk about or review in the world of skateboarding.
And when it comes to ladies in the world of skateboarding, I will ALWAYS be one to encourage and promote growth and support throughout the community. This is something I wanted to achieve through my posts on this topical publication the most. Being a girl myself who skates, I wanted to bring a lot of my own perspective and experiences into these blog posts in hopes that other girls being would be able to relate or feel less alone. I also wanted to largely introduce my readers to the female contribution and accomplishments in skateboarding that may get overlooked.
Being a girl who skates has it’s ups and downs. There will definitely be times you feel misunderstood or stereotyped, and people won’t always be accepting of your presence, but in the long run skateboarding is and should be something that can be enjoyed by all…
even if it is male dominated.
There are also lots of pros that one should remember when walking away from my posts. Like the fact that a lot of people ARE accepting, and it’s just about finding those skaters. Skateboarding is also rewarding, exhilarating, and has a way of bringing people together.
In the end it is also YOUR OWN, and that should never be forgotten. You don’t owe anything to anyone except yourself.
Even though I may be taking a break, anyone who has been keeping up with my posts and is interested in the female world of skateboarding should take a look at GirlShredClips Skateboarding page, which you can also find on Instagram. They post lots of clips and pictures of girls shredding that I have always found really fun to watch and encouraging to see!
I won’t say goodbye, but rather see you later, since a permanent end to this blog seems drastic. In the meantime I hope that everyone gets out this summer and reconnects with hobbies they might not have had time to enjoy beforehand, whether that be skateboarding or anything else…
You know I’ll be out here skating away until the wheels fall off!
Talk to you soon!
