Hi Everyone!
Where do I even begin?….
These past few weeks have been something out of a book. I can’t believe that we are currently living through a pandemic where we are officially being advised not to leave our homes. I’m sure everyone is tired hearing about the Corona Virus at this point, but I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy in the comfort of their homes.
I have been lucky enough to find activities that allow me to still be outside, although much of that has changed over the past week. With the growing concern and rate of exposure in my town, I am now mainly confined to my own home along with my immediate family (who are all thankfully healthy).
Skateboarding has still been a very big part of my life through this all. (YOU KNOW I STAY ON BRAND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN) However, because most skate parks are closed now due to the social distancing rules, I’ve been having to find other desolate empty parking lots or school campuses to skate through. This has been both relieving yet a depressing experience.
Here are a couple of clips I put together from a week ago on my Instagram.
I miss socializing, and I miss my friends, which I’m sure most of you can relate to.
I am honestly just trying to find any excuse to be outside, even if it is only in my backyard. I highly recommend that everyone get some fresh air and sunlight at some point on a daily basis. I think that has been the most helpful thing preventing me from completely losing my mind and getting cabin fever.
Although schoolwork has been another gripe, I have been finding time to take on new hobbies. I have been making a lot of art lately, either collaging, painting, or making things out of clay. DO NOT LET THE CURRENT SITUATION STRIP YOU OF INSPIRATION. Make the best out of the current situation.

Not much feels normal right now. I am out of work with no definite date of return, currently on unemployment, and almost sanctioned to my laptop with the amount of online updates I get from classes now. However, trying to stay productive and still do the little things that make me happy make me forget that this is all going on sometimes. For even a minute I might be thinking about how this feels like a weekend off, or extended spring break, before it all hits me again.
I can’t wait for this all to be over so that we can return to our regular daily lives.
In the meantime take care of yourselves! Make time to do things that make you happy! And for the love of all things good and holy….
WASH YOUR HANDS!
Sorry to hear you’re out of work.
Cool incense holder. How do you fire the clay?

I honestly don’t know much about clay, and ended up buying a kind that stays flexible even after setting which was a mistake, but it still works! I baked it in the oven somewhere around 200-250 degrees for about 15-20 minutes!

I’m glad you can still stick with your hobbies, especially skateboarding, even if the skate parks are closed.
The pottery looks great! When did you start getting interested in doing that?

Thanks so much! My boyfriend is really artsy so he actually presented the idea and I just ran with it! He sculpts waaay cooler stuff but I just wanted to make and paint something I could utilize.

Thanks so much!! I started seriously trying to learn about 2.5 years ago. But I’ve skated (mostly cruising around) since I was 14!

Awesome skating video. I’m glad you have skating to occupy your time since it’s something you can really do anywhere, although I know skate parks are probably better. Have you spent any time trying to learn a new trick? Maybe that’d be a good goal to accomplish during this!

Yes!! I’ve been working on fakie kick-flips and heel-flips! Luckily I can practice those anywhere.

That’s too bad you’re out of a job right now. Where do you work?

I loved your Instagram video of you skateboarding. Have you ever thought about making a tutorial video on how to do a certain trick? I don’t know a lot about skateboarding so that may easier said than done.

Thank you so much! I’ve never considered making a tutorial video but that’s a good idea! I may just do that as a part of a future post! I would also be interested in knowing what kind of tricks people would want to see tutorials for.

I forgot that I have a penny board and I have been wanting to learn how to skateboard! Any tips on where to start?

That’s awesome!!! I started with a penny board too! Honestly any smooth paved, open area is great place to start learning how to just push around, turn, and get comfortable on your board! Parking lots and driveways are a go-to for me. They’re also a great place to learn flat ground tricks (since all the skate parks are closed up right now).
